Charles Hoffman ’82,’92, director of innovative solutions for Ubmatrix LLC, is credited as being the “<FONT style="font-weight:bold; font-size:12pt; color:#000000;">Father of XBRL</FONT>” (eXtensible Business Reporting Language). He has been named by Accounting Technology as one of the one hundred most influential people in the accounting profession and, in 1997 Hoffman was the recipient of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Innovative User of Technology award.&#160; <br/>
<br/>
Hoffman has authored, coauthored and edited several books including his book “XBRL Essentials,” a non-technical guide to XBRL.&#160; He co-edited the first XBRL taxonomy entitled “Financial Reporting of Commercial and Industrial Companies, US GAAP” (July 2000) and continues to play a major role in creating the taxonomy for financial reporting under the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS-GP).&#160; He also co-authored&#160; “Financial Reporting Taxonomies Architecture”, the “Financial Reporting Instance Standards”, and a significant contributor to the XBRL 2.1 specification.&#160; <br/>
<br/>
Prior to his involvement with XBRL, Hoffman served as an auditor for what was then Price Waterhouse, where he served as a financial officer for a number of companies and as an accounting software implementation consultant.&#160; <br/>
<br/>
He is an active member of the XBRL International Specification and Domain working groups and is a 1982 and 1992 graduate of Pacific Lutheran University with both a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting and an M.B.A. with a focus on management information systems and world class manufacturing techniques.</ContentImageText>
